OUR EVENTS
The Clifton Arts event programme is varied and traditionally seasonal, allowing members to make the best opportunity of capturing the outdoors "en plein air" in Spring and Summer and with indoor events such as workshops and life drawing classes during the Autumn and Winter seasons. There is a place and something to interest all artists and anyone interested in art. The club is proud that it is able to find space to accommodate all aspiring artists whether you are an amateur or academician.
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic these activities have been reformatted to comply with restrictions. Live activities are held for limited members and the activity is streamed live via ZOOM and recorded at the discretion of the organiser.

En Plein Air - Garden Visits During June, July, August and September members have exclusive access to some of the most magnificent private gardens in the South West. These are generally fun days out - creating friendships and sometimes masterpieces. In true Bristol style one needs to be prepared for all seasons in one day - pack lightly and be prepared to take cover from sun and showers from time to time. Saturday Mornings
There is a choice of subject between a still life and a dressed model. Members are welcome to use any medium to explore and capture the subject matter. There is a break at half time to have a cuppa and nibble for a small donation. These mornings are extremely popular and it is requested that members arrive on time and to not leave early. A wide range of topical subjects are presented at these evening sessions. They range from demonstrations in a variety of mediums to lectures on interesting arty topics. The Club has video equipment which enables everyone to engage with demonstrations in detail. Members usually meet from 19h00 for a coffee and biscuit before the presentation. The club hosts an Annual Open Exhibition to showcase members work and the work of many other local artists. This is the major event of the Club and is held over the Summer holiday period towards the end of August. It usually attracts an entry of over 600 artworks of which at least 350 are carefully selected by three independent experts for the curated exhibition. Entrance to the exhibition is free. These are generally in smaller venues and work is selected by the organiser on a roster basis. There are plenty of opportunities for members to exhibit their work and to get involved in managing and stewarding exhibitions. Life Drawing A nude model presents a variety of poses to challenge all artists. Life drawing forms an important role in training artists to examine and study human anatomy and proportion. There is a break at half time to have a chat and some refreshment. These events are very popular and members are asked to arrive on time and to not leave early. We run a varied programme of day workshops during the year, covering various mediums. These workshops cater for smaller groups with the intention that all participants engage with the tutor and learn new skills.

The Club organizes day trips to gallery exhibitions around the country. A coach is hired for these trips which give members an opportunity to experience major exhibitions with fellow members. Group size is limited so booking is essential. Members will need to pay for the transport costs and admission fee to the exhibition. Organiser - Jean Bryant DVD Library and Online Tuition The Club has a large DVD library for loan to members. Whether you wish to improve your skill or just wish to relax in a learning environment there is sure to be something of interest for everyone. In addition the Club is building an online tuition library for access to members. Most of this material will be recordings of ZOOM presentations and activities which will allow members to participate in and revisit Club activities. You could be in with the chance of winning a £10,000 commission for a major British institution and £500 of materials from Cass Art.
